Bret Keith Brintzenhofe is a self-taught visual artist and photographer based in New York City.
This website features selected works Bret has made since 2020, reflecting the beauty, decay and humor he witnessed in his travels across the United States.
The artworks are divided into three categories. Photographs, which Bret takes with a smartphone because it is always at hand. Collages, which he draws on intuition to assemble and arrange. And kinetic and colorful improvised drawings.
Bret's art is influenced by his father, Keith, a technologist and former master printer at Universal Limited Art Editions; his uncle Rick, a prolific New York and Zurich-based painter; and his great aunt Frida Otto, who made realist oil paintings of nature through the seasons. Bret also draws inspiration from comic book and graffiti artists.
A practicing attorney, Bret employs art-making as a way to share his impressions without having to use words.
