Bret Brintzenhofe is a self-taught visual artist based in New York City.Â
This website features selected works Bret has made since 2020. The images are reflections on the unexpected, absurd and moving elements in our environment.
The artworks are divided into three categories. photos, which Bret takes with a smartphone because it is always at hand. Collages, which he draws on intuition to assemble and arrange. And kinetic and colorful improvised drawings, paintings & cutouts.
Bret's art is influenced by his father, Keith, a technologist and former master printer at Universal Limited Art Editions; his uncle Rick, a prolific New York and Zurich-based painter; and his great aunt Frida Otto, who made realist oil paintings of nature through the seasons. Bret also finds inspiration in comic book and graffiti artists and filmmakers.
